My name is Vanessa Dadaglio Karram and I am the creator and designer of Fleurerie. It all began with my French, Italian & Moroccan parents. My father was born in the South of France and his beautiful family still resides there. My parents sent my sister and I to the French countryside every summer for two months. We ate, lived and breathed the culture, and till today, the culture is in our blood and a major part of who my sister and I are.

My grandfather had a huge garden that he took a lot of pride in. It must have been about 5 acres of fruits, vegetables and many beautiful flowers.

We helped him take care of the garden every day and picked food from it. We cared for his garden just as much as he did and these memories are some of our most cherished. Never did I think I would have one of my own and hold it so dear. My garden gives me a deep sense of fulfillment while I stay home and raise my children. It has become the light in me and what makes me feel at peace.

I come from a family that has design in its blood. It’s an inherent quality that I am constantly surrounded by, and am very grateful for. I even married an interior designer/architect and his entire family has a very established artistic background as well.

I have always had a huge affection for the finer things. From a very young age I appreciated fine details and had very refined taste be it art, jewelry, interior design, or fashion. I worked for couture fashion houses such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren. My college major was in Interior Design and I had worked for multiple firms. Including my husband's, which was an honor as he is one of the most innovative and talented designers I have ever seen.

Once I started a family of my own I was spending much more time at home, and not feeling like I was being very productive. I’ve always been a workaholic. So, naturally, I decided to garden! My friends all got a huge chuckle out of it. But I was loving it, and surprisingly very good at it. I loved being with nature, I was able to clear my mind. This gardening hobby became my purpose and an obsession. I felt like I was being productive, like I was doing something with myself (yes, even though I was raising 2 children). Still, I wanted to create a business of my own. I was racking my brain day and night trying to figure out which career path I should take. It was really getting to me. But I was open and asking the universe everyday to guide me. Little did I know it was right under my nose this whole time.

One day I was on a walk with a girlfriend and I was once again complaining about how I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life. While I was complaining, I was also showing her a picture of a flower arrangement I made for my son's school teacher. I had been making homemade arrangements for all my friends and family ever since I started my beautiful garden. My children always have fresh flowers by their bedside and at the dinner table. I just love flowers - they are a little slice of heaven to me.

“You should be a couture florist,” she said. I looked at her and said, “That’s exactly what I'm going to do!” I started working on my logo that very day and came up with the name Fleurerie and I have been in business ever since.

And now, I get to be as creative I want with one of the most beautiful things in the universe - Mother Nature.
